Community Involvement
M J Ryan Eyecare is involved in this scheme that helps to keep eyecare in the community. You will have more choice of appointment time, and with less of a wait for your appointment. The NHS saves money and frees up critical hospital appointments by sharing out care with our trained optometrist
• Pre- and post-cataract assessments
• Minor eye conditions assessments such as dry eyes, lid lumps and bumps, red eyes, loss or distorted vision
• Retinal/choroidal pigment imaging (freckles at the back of the eye)
Low Vision Assessment
After a full eye examination, if spectacles or contact lenses can’t provide adequate vision due to retinal issues, we offer low vision assessments. This helps determine if magnifiers, such as hand-held or spectacle-mounted, can improve vision. As part of the local low vision scheme, MJ Ryan Eyecare can provide magnifiers on permanent loan if clinically necessary for patients in the Preston or Chorley area.
We recommend having an eye test every two years, though certain conditions or lifestyle factors may require more frequent visits. Our optometrists will advise you on the best schedule to keep your eyes healthy.
